EMDR

When a person gets traumatized, the memory of the experience seems to get locked in the nervous system with frozen pictures, sounds, thoughts, feelings. With EMDR consulting, we facilitate the “unthawing” of these memories in order for the brain to process the experience.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (through eye movements, tapping, or movement) to activate the Right Brain and Left Brain simultaneously. When this happens, we are able to reprocess disturbing material in a way that brings closure and acceptance in one’s relationship to past trauma. This method illuminates the neural pathways, guiding the brain to understand that past events are just memories, and no longer a present reality. The therapy enables the brain to seamlessly connect the dots of its neural network, thus fostering normal healing.

EMDR consulting therapy has the capacity to quickly reduce the level of distress in a particular memory, event or  behavior. Unless traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require talking at length about your traumatic experiences.  EMDR can help with  insomnia, anxiety, phobias, panic, depression, dissociative disorders, muscle tension, grief, aches/pain, PTSD, stress, sexual assault, among others.

I offer 60-minute EMDR sessions, 90-minute EMDR consulting sessions, or all-day EMDR trauma retreats (multiple EMDR sessions per day). I also offer EMDR consulting sessions that are combined with low-dose ketamine lozenges in order to expedite the healing process.
